Well it's been a while since my last post. Martinique is just coming out of it's Dengue Epidemic. Not to panic, most people get over it. It's appears some weak individuals, just like with the flu, can have a really rough time of it and some die, sad to say. I think 2 people have this year but don't take that as fact.
Dengue is endemic in the Caribbean and many other tropical countries. If you ask around there you'll probably find many people who have had it at one time in their life.
Anyway, back to the good news, the amount of people thought to have it is dropping like a rock as we head for "winter" and dryer weather.
Here's the official statistics .

I looking for news on the new Middle Caribbean Fibre Network. Specifically when will they land and light the fibre to Martinique. This shoud enormously improve the internet connection from their to the world.
I heard it would be last December but I still gotten pings of about 300ms and that wouldn't be right.

Club Med Martinique
Well Club Med in Martinique in on strike. This is the first time I've actually seen it happen.
Many people don't understand how big a deal this is for the island of Martinique. Public and private capital, I mean lot's of it have been spend to totally rebuild the place. I loved it before the remodel and would love to go back after, but I digress.
The unions are VERY active in Martinique and it is the French way. It not unusual to see a grocery store go on strike which is very strange to Americans, but most Americans don't understand the French.
Being French = quality of life not having more stuff. Stuff is good but if you're not enjoying your life what the use!
Anyway a strike at this time is very bad for the island because it will turn away tourists for years into the future, just the memory that your peaceful vacation could be interrupted will make people go elsewhere.
Again, the selfishness of a small group will cause a large effect in permanent employment in an island with about 30% unemployment already. Some sacrifice could be made for the benefit of the others less privileged in Martinique. But, the LOVE of money is the root of all evil, and that never changes.
Yes the union should strike when needed but not at the expense of their friends and relatives you desperately need a job in the travel services.

Just getting started
I found a blog I wanted to respond to so of course I have to make one. We'll here I am.
I'm just not sure whether to fill it up with lore about Martinique or Mexico and other travels.
I really don't want to give out all the details of my websites www.blessednutrition.com and www.blessednutrition.net , but I may put in the occasional rant about them.
Well, if you're into Martinique I would like to hear from you. Yes Martinique where I would like to retire.
